There are six keys to understanding the COI schedule.
All times are listed in Central Daylight Savings Time (CDT).
There are Group & Individual sessions.
Most sessions last around 30-50 minutes.
Group & Individual sessions are LIVE at the time listed in the schedule.
All Group sessions are recorded and shared (for independent viewing) on the COI YouTube channel...except Lounges which might run more than 30 minutes and are not recorded.
The COI Schedule may change. THAT is why it is critical to attend the Daily Check-in @ 10am CDT.
Individual Sessions: Lessons are LIVE@times arranged with composer-teachers and composer-students; 20-30 minute one-on-one sessions recorded at the students discretion. Composers & songwriters will have five lessons during the Institute.
New Group Session videos will be added daily on COI's YouTube channel. Click to view.
Group sessions: Check-in LIVE @ 10am An important Daily half hour Check-in: All Hands ***** Highly Recommended but it will be recorded and publicly shared. Theory Interactive Session LIVE @ 11am & 1pm; half hour sessions recorded and publicly shared shortly after. Each composer will be expected to "view and do" four sessions over the course of the week. Composer-teachers will consult with composer-students to recommend four sessions that might be most helpful. There will be sixteen (16) sessions uploaded over the course of the week that can be "viewed and dude" at any time in the future. Performer Salons LIVE @ 2pm, 3pm & 4pm CDT (2 instruments at a time) on Monday, July 13; 30-50 minute sessions recorded and publicly shared shortly after. Each of the Featured Performers will show a short video followed by a conversation about their instrument's capacities. Creator/Producer Salons LIVE @ 3pm; Tuesday thru Friday; 30-50 minutes sessions recorded and publicly shared shortly after. C/P Salons are hosted by a faculty member with special guests on topics related to creativity, working process, recording and production issues. Lounges (optional) LIVE @ 8pm; open-ended sessions on Zoom but not recorded. Participating composers will propose and choose videos to watch, game scores to listen to, scores to analyze online. Many options every evening based on what folks want to do.
The Weekend is Different
The Daily Check-in will happen on Saturday @10am CDT and on Sunday @1pm CDT.
Composers with acoustic projects for solo instruments will have their music recorded on Saturday & Sunday by the Performers.
Composers & songwriters with DAW projects will spend some of Saturday and all day Sunday tracking the recordings made on Saturday by the Performers. DAW projects must be finished Sunday by 7pm CDT.
TRACK DROP was a celebration of the new music created during COI and it happened at 1pm on Monday, July 20th. You can find the TRACKdrop and an abundance of other videos at COI's YouTube Channel.
