Weekday evenings are for group sessions to deepen your understanding of the different forms and practices of literacy: improvisation, music technology, notation, sound design, music theory, & composition techniques.
Creative Projects take time and every person has their individual process. Creative coaches will learn your preferences and provide help to you during two half-hour private tutorials during the course of the Institute. Whether your project is a song or an instrumental piece for acoustic instruments or a mash-up of audio clips from other sources, our coaches have technical expertise and will provide resources and guidance as you work throughout the week. Every participant is encouraged to create a minimum of one minute of music every days during the Institute. Additional tutorials are available for $25/half-hour.
DAWs (digital work stations) will be used by each participant to record either acoustic or electronic sounds. There is more information at the <SONG BLOG> about which DAW might be best for you. Considerations discussed on the SONG BLOG include 1) cost, 2) features, 3) quality. All of the Institute's projects will be recorded and shared on Sunday evening, December 6, 2020
Performers for your creative project recording can include up to two of COI's professional performers as well as your fellow-participants.
